WWII USMC Baseball Jersey 2nd Tank Battalion
There are USMC items that come along that one doesn't often think of but is important to the history of the Corp in WWII. This appeared on Ebay a few months back, a wool WWII USMC baseball jersey complete with pants and ID'ed to the 2nd Tank Battalion. What makes this incredible is that it was id'ed to a Marine Tank Battalion. You got to love these types of unique items that don't often get the screen time like the other more common uniforms.

I have a similar jersey, with the extra collar material. There is a number 7 stitched on the back in high proximity to the collar. A section of the jersey, front, right side appears to have been cut off. I bought it from an auction. Did WWII Marine baseball jerseys have numbers? No other authentication is available from the seller.
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon, I have a similar jersey to the one in this photo. It has the number 13 in red on the back od the jersey. On the inside is very faint lettering that look like a name and/or serial number. (size 36) Any information that anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.
